About Corporate Magician for Events That People Actually Remember

Great corporate entertainment does more than fill time – it creates conversations.

Whether you’re entertaining clients, rewarding your team or hosting a product launch, awards dinner or Christmas party, close-up magic is a natural way to bring people together. It breaks the ice, encourages networking and gives guests a genuinely memorable experience they’ll still be talking about long after the event has finished.

Based in Orpington and performing across London, Kent, Surrey and the UK, Pete James has entertained at corporate events of every size, from intimate boardroom gatherings to large-scale conferences and gala dinners. His interactive style is professional, engaging and designed to complement your event rather than interrupt it.

Performing amongst your guests during drinks receptions, networking sessions, canapés or between courses at dinner, Pete creates moments of amazement that spark conversations and leave a lasting impression on clients, colleagues and guests alike.

Perfect For

  • Client entertainment
  • Networking events
  • Awards dinners
  • Christmas parties
  • Product launches
  • Conferences
  • Team celebrations
  • Hospitality events

Every performance is tailored to your audience, your venue and the atmosphere you want to create, ensuring the entertainment feels like a seamless part of your event. Whether you’re hosting a handful of senior executives or hundreds of guests, Pete delivers polished, interactive close-up magic that reflects the professionalism of your business while creating unforgettable moments.

Where Close-Up Magic Fits Into a Corporate Event

The drinks reception is where this works hardest. It’s the part of the evening where people default to talking to the colleagues they already know, and a magician moving between groups gives strangers a reason to start a conversation. For client entertainment and networking events, that’s the entire point of the booking.

At a seated dinner or awards night, Pete works table to table between courses, filling the gaps in a long running order without competing with the speeches or the awards themselves. For product launches, exhibition stands and conference breaks, close-up magic works as a crowd-draw: it gives people a reason to stop at your stand and stay long enough for your team to talk to them.

Venues Where Pete Has Performed

A selection. Every one was a booking made by the company, agency or planner running the event, not an endorsement or partnership with the venue:

  • The Brewery and City Central at the HAC, in the City of London
  • Grosvenor House Hotel and the London Hilton on Park Lane
  • Andaz London Liverpool Street and Pan Pacific London
  • The Caledonian Club and the Royal Air Force Club
  • ExCeL London, Battersea Evolution and the National Exhibition Centre
  • Kempton Park Racecourse and The Jockey Club at Epsom Downs
  • Said Business School, Oxford, and the Defence Academy of the UK
  • The Grand Hotel Birmingham, Dukes 92 in Manchester and Bovey Castle

There is a fuller list on the notable venues page.

What Affects the Cost

There is no single figure, and anyone quoting one before they know your event details is guessing. The things that genuinely move it:

  • How long you need. A 45-minute drinks reception slot is a different booking to a drinks-plus-dinner evening.
  • Guest numbers. Past roughly 150 guests it is worth discussing either a longer booking or a second performer.
  • The date. December is the busiest month in the corporate calendar by a distance, and the good dates go before some companies have confirmed their venue.
  • Format. Walk-around during drinks, table-to-table at dinner, a stand at an exhibition, or a combination.

Working With Your Venue

There is nothing to set up, nothing to plug in, no staging, no sound system and nothing to load in or out. Everything needed fits in a jacket pocket, so there is nothing for your AV supplier or venue to schedule around. Pete is used to office buildings with security desks, ID checks and sign-in procedures, and arrives early enough to get through them without it becoming your problem. Public liability insurance certificates and risk assessments are available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am based in Orpington, Greater London, UK, but regularly perform at high-profile events nationwide and internationally - including regularly across Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Most bookings run one to two hours of mixed-and-mingled close-up magic, though I offer flexible packages from a short 45-minute slot up to a full day's entertainment - whatever suits your event.

The Magic Circle is Britain's most respected society for magicians, founded in 1905. It isn't a membership you can simply pay for - every applicant has to pass a formal examination (or submit a thesis) in front of a panel of existing members, demonstrating real skill and knowledge of the craft, before being admitted. I've been a Member since 2016.

No - I work close-up, moving between guests with nothing set up beforehand and nothing to plug in, which makes it easy to fit around any event format or venue.

Yes - table-to-table between courses works just as well as working the room during drinks, and I'm happy to do both across the same event if that suits your running order.

Yes - everything is clean, sharp and suitable for clients, senior stakeholders or mixed company. I'll always match the tone to your event when we discuss the booking.
