Learn More about Wedding Magic
A Magic Circle close-up magician for London's historic and prestige venues, with discretion, paperwork and cover as standard.
Historic venues are some of the best rooms in London to perform in, and some of the strictest. Event teams have collections to protect, running orders that can’t slip and guests who expect the evening to stay private. This page is for the people who look after those rooms: what I need from you, how I work in your building, and the paperwork your team will ask for.
Close-up magic happens in your guests’ hands, a couple of feet from them, so it needs almost nothing from the building. There’s no stage, no power, no sound and no set-up area. I arrive with one backpack, sign in, take your briefing and start when you’re ready. Nothing is fixed to a wall, rested on a display case or left behind afterwards.
The act is fire-free as standard. One effect uses a brief flash of flame, and it only comes out if your team has approved it in writing beforehand. There’s no liquid, glitter, confetti or smoke in anything I do.
Over 15 years and more than 500 events, I’ve performed at the Tower of London, the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, the HAC, Grosvenor House, the London Hilton on Park Lane, the Royal Air Force Club and HMS Belfast, among many others. These were bookings made by the clients holding their events there, not venue partnerships. They do mean I know how heritage events run: early supplier access, collection rules, and a duty manager who needs to know where everyone is.
Many of the guests at events in these rooms are there because the event is private. I treat every booking as confidential. I don’t photograph or film guests, I never name a client or an event without written permission, and I’m happy to sign your NDA, or your client’s, before the day. I’ve written more about how I handle discretion at VIP events.
I keep a supplier pack up to date for venue teams: a risk assessment, a method statement, a sustainability statement and my £10 million public liability certificate. Email me and I’ll send it the same day. I’m also happy to fill in your own supplier forms or complete an induction.
I’ve been a member of The Magic Circle since 2016 and an Associate of the Inner Magic Circle since 2021, and I work alongside many fellow members. If I’m ever unavailable, or an event needs magicians in several rooms at once, I can put forward performers of the same standard. Each one brings their own insurance and paperwork, and your team approves every name in advance.
I ask for the running order early, so the magic stays clear of speeches, toasts and service. I arrive 30 minutes before guests, use the supplier entrance and sign in with your duty manager. For central London venues near a tube station I come by public transport, so there’s no parking or loading bay to arrange. I dress to suit the event: a three-piece suit as standard, or black tie on request.
Close-up magic is hard to judge from a page, and much easier when it happens in your own hands. I’m happy to come in and perform for your events team for 15 minutes, whether that’s before a team meeting, at a client showcase or at your staff party. If you’d rather talk it through first, a quick call or video call works just as well.

I am based in Orpington, Greater London, UK, but regularly perform at high-profile events nationwide and internationally - including regularly across Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Most bookings run one to two hours of mixed-and-mingled close-up magic, though I offer flexible packages from a short 45-minute slot up to a full day's entertainment - whatever suits your event.
The Magic Circle is Britain's most respected society for magicians, founded in 1905. It isn't a membership you can simply pay for - every applicant has to pass a formal examination (or submit a thesis) in front of a panel of existing members, demonstrating real skill and knowledge of the craft, before being admitted. I've been a Member since 2016.
Yes. I hold £10 million public liability cover, renewed every year. The certificate is part of my supplier pack, along with my risk assessment, method statement and sustainability statement, and I can send it the same day you ask.
Yes, and that's how I work by default. Only one effect in my act uses a brief flash of flame, and it is only ever used when the venue has approved it in writing beforehand. Everything else uses cards and small hand-held props.
Very little. I don't need a stage, power, sound, lighting or a set-up area. Access through the supplier entrance, somewhere to leave a coat and a small backpack, and your usual supplier briefing is all I ask for.
Yes, happily, whether it comes from the venue or the client. Every booking is treated as confidential anyway: I don't photograph or film guests, and I never name a client or an event without written permission.
I work alongside many fellow members of The Magic Circle, so a client is never left without a magician. I'll put forward someone of the same standard, with their own insurance and paperwork, and your team approves the name before the event.
Yes, and I'd encourage it. I'm glad to perform for your team for 15 minutes at no charge, at a team meeting, a client showcase or your staff party. If I already have a booking at your venue, I can do it while I'm on site.
Fill out the form and I'll get back to you within 24 hours with availability and a quote.
