Close-up magic for weddings, corporate events and private parties in and around Kent's county town.
Maidstone is Kent’s county town, and it’s a bigger, more varied booking than somewhere smaller. I’ve performed at Chilston Park Hotel near Sandway, a country house venue just outside the town that does a steady run of weddings, and the town centre itself brings in a different kind of work entirely: corporate dinners tied to the county’s business and legal sector based around County Hall.
Beyond Chilston Park, most of my Maidstone work is at hotels and function rooms I don’t have a second named example for yet. Tell me your venue when you enquire and I’ll know what to expect before the day.
The split is fairly even between weddings at country house venues outside the town and corporate dinners inside it, which isn’t the case everywhere I cover. Maidstone has its own business and legal community, so Christmas party season brings in office dos as well as the usual wedding traffic through spring and summer.
It’s further out than most of what I cover, roughly thirty to forty minutes down the M20 from Orpington depending on traffic, which is usually manageable outside peak times. Country house venues like Chilston Park tend to have their own grounds and parking, no different to anywhere else of that kind. Town centre venues are more likely to mean a short walk from a car park, and I’ll factor that into my arrival time.
At a Chilston Park wedding, it’s the drinks reception, the same pattern as most country house weddings, while the couple’s away for photographs and the guests are getting to know each other. At a Maidstone corporate dinner, the gap tends to be right at the start, while people are finding their seats and the room’s still settling.
My bookings run from £450 to £1,200:
| Performance time | Price |
|---|---|
| 45 minutes to 1 hour | £450 – £600 |
| 2 hours | £500 – £900 |
| 4 hours | £800 – £1,200 |
Those bands overlap deliberately. How long you book me for sets the floor, it doesn’t set the price. The date matters more than most people expect, and Saturdays from May to September and the whole of December are the busiest in the calendar.
Maidstone carries no travel surcharge. Neither does anywhere else in London, Kent, Surrey or Berkshire.

I am based in Orpington, Greater London, UK, but regularly perform at high-profile events nationwide and internationally - including regularly across Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Most bookings run one to two hours of mixed-and-mingled close-up magic, though I offer flexible packages from a short 45-minute slot up to a full day's entertainment - whatever suits your event.
The Magic Circle is Britain's most respected society for magicians, founded in 1905. It isn't a membership you can simply pay for - every applicant has to pass a formal examination (or submit a thesis) in front of a panel of existing members, demonstrating real skill and knowledge of the craft, before being admitted. I've been a Member since 2016.
